Moaners
The Moaners are from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and play loud rock and roll with gusto. The Moaners are 2 chics who have been honing their skills in various bands: Melissa Swingle - on guitar, also played with the band Trailer Bride ( Bloodshot Records ) and is a well respected song writer. Laura King - beats the hell out of some drums, and is like a prettier female incarnation of Keith Moon. She has been playing drums since the age of 11, and has been in ½ a dozen bands since then ( Grand National, Gerty, and Pedge, just to name a few ).
When the Moaners perform live the stage chemistry of these 2 women is undeniable, and they rock just as hard a 5 men. Not only do they rock, but their songs have soul and sincerity. In the past year the Moaners have played with the Drive-by Truckers, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Detroit Cobras, Paul "Wine" Jones, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, The Butchies, The Mountain Goats, The Forty Fives, and The Legendary Shack Shakers.
