Peter Bradley Adams is set to release his first full length solo record Gather Up this spring. He produced the record himself and recorded virtually all of it throughout 2005 in his apartment in-between his touring schedule. The record displays the breadth of Peter's influences, from Americana, to pop, to his classical training.'
Earlier in 2005, Peter self-released a limited edition EP which was hailed by many, including the Boston Globe, who called it "a beautiful set of Americana music..... It confirms the dreamy-voiced Adams as an artist to follow...."
Previously, Peter was in the duo eastmountainsouth, signed by Robbie Robertson (of the Band) to DreamWorks Records in 2001.
eastmountainsouth has sold to date approximately 60,000 copies of their debut. The single, "You Dance" was a #1 AAA radio hit, top 5 for 2 months in 2003; and the duo has toured extensively as an opening act for such artists as Tracy Chapman, Lucinda Williams, Nelly Furtado, and Joan Baez.
The opening track from the record, as well as Peter's arrangement and interpretation of Stephen Foster's "Hard Times" recently appeared in Cameron Crowe's film, "Elizabethtown" and also was included on the soundtrack album. Peter's music from eastmountainsouth has appeared in an astonishing 28+ films and television shows in the US.
eastmountainsouth performed their last show in september 2004 at the Hollywood Bowl opening for Lyle Lovett and Shelby Lynn.
Peter began studying classical piano at the age of 6 in Birmingham, Alabama. He cites his grandfather, a former professional jazz clarinetist and accomplished pianist, as being his earliest musical inspiration. He went on studying piano through high school and college, then got a Master's Degree in music at the University of Alabama, and finally ended up in Los Angeles in 1995 where he worked as a freelance film composer, until forming eastmountainsouth in 2001.
